Skill Requirements

Cabinetmaker (for Architectural Millwork) (NOC: 7272)

Education: Completion of high school, completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training

Credentials (Certificates, Courses, ect..): Cabinetmaker Trade Certification or Joinery Trade Certification

Experience: 3 years minimum

Languages: English (Speak, Read, Write)

Area of Specialization: Custom work, Furniture and Cabinets

Weight Handling: Up to 24 kg (50 lbs)

Specific Skills:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications
  • Trim joints and fit parts together
  • Veneering, sanding of wooden surfaces
  • Applying lacquer, stain or polish to finished products
  • Set up and operate Saws and other Woodworking machines to cut, shape and form parts
  • Machine components for Cabinets Furniture and other items
  • Laminate Cabinet and Furniture components
  • Preperation and application of Wood Veneers and Plastic Laminates to substrates
  • Maintain and clean and safe work environment

Own Tools/Equipment:

  • Hand Tools
  • PPSE (Personal Protective Safety Equipment such as a respirator)
